Universal Truck Sales LTD ("we", "us") sells used commercial trucks and truck bodies from 1180 Aerowood Drive, Mississauga, ON L4W 1Y5. This policy explains what personal information we collect through universaltrucksales.com, why, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Information you send us. When you use a form on this site (questions about a unit, stock alerts, financing, selling or trading in, install quotes, CARFAX requests), we receive what you type in: usually your name, phone number, email address and details about the truck you want or are selling. The form is emailed to our sales team, and a copy is kept in our staff system so we can follow up and keep a record of your enquiry.
- Chats with our "Ask us" assistant. The assistant answers automatically from our inventory; it is not a person and does not use artificial intelligence. We save the conversation (your questions, its answers, and which buttons you clicked) so our team can follow up and improve its answers. We don't collect your name or contact details in the chat unless you type them in. Saved chats are deleted after 180 days.
- How the site is used. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular, and Google Ads to measure our advertising. These services use cookies and collect information such as your approximate location, device, browser and the pages you view. They do not give us your name.
- Phone, WhatsApp and email. If you call, text or email us, we receive your number or address and what you send.
How we use it
- To answer your questions, arrange viewings, prepare quotes and offers, and complete a sale.
- To tell you when a unit you asked about comes into stock, if you asked us to.
- To help arrange financing, if you ask us to. With your consent, we share the details needed with the lender.
- To keep the records that dealers in Ontario must keep for a sale (for example, a bill of sale).
- To improve our website and our advertising.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run this site and our business, and only so they can do that work:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and our staff system, where saved chats, form enquiries and customer records are kept.
- Web3Forms delivers the forms on this site to our email.
- Google provides Analytics and Ads measurement.
- Glo3D provides the photos and 360° views shown on vehicle pages.
- Lenders, when you ask us to help with financing.
Some of these companies store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also share information when the law requires it.
Cookies and your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The site still works without them. The chat assistant keeps your current conversation in your browser only until you close the tab.
How long we keep it
We keep form messages and sales records for as long as we need them for the purpose you gave them to us, and for as long as the law requires for sales records. Website chats are deleted after 180 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to us contacting you. Email [email protected] or call 905-564-4944. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
