Buying a used box truck
Which licence? In Ontario a G licence covers trucks up to 11,000 kg gross weight (GVWR). Most of our 16 to 26 ft straight trucks are under that, and we mark them G-class on the listing. Heavier trucks need a class D licence. The GVWR of every truck is on its page.
What size? Count pallets: a box takes two standard 48 × 40 in pallets side by side for every 4 ft of length, so a 16 ft box holds about 8 and a 26 ft box 12 to 13. Check the inside height and the door opening (listed in inches) if you move tall freight.
Dry or reefer? Dry van boxes carry general freight. For food, flowers or pharma, look at our refrigerated trucks, which list the reefer make, model and engine hours.
Liftgate and brakes. A liftgate saves a lot of time if you don't have a loading dock; the capacity is on each listing. Most trucks under 26 ft have hydraulic brakes; air brakes need the Z endorsement on your licence.
Certified or as-is, and financing. Trucks are available safety certified or as-is, and you can get pre-approved before you visit. Every listing has a payment estimate.
